Beyond the Depths is an immersive choreographic installation, intended for a wide audience, that explores the interconnection between the body, space, and the environment. My goal is to make the invisible visible to emphasize that a small decision can have far-reaching repercussions.
Beyond the Depths was developed from two central ideas. The first is the desire to raise awareness about the consequences of human interactions. This led me to address a very personal subject: the connection to the matrix, to our origins, and the question of motherhood.
There is also a need to present a politically engaged piece that highlights the issues and impacts of budget cuts on artistic creation. This is a cultural threat that deeply affects us today.
These questions are explored through the prism of aquatic depths, conveyed by the aesthetics of inflatable structures shaped like giant jellyfish. This visual dimension questions our eco-responsibility, which also resonates with the spotlighting of our actions on what surrounds us.
It is essential for me that the material manipulated be as simple as possible, easily reproducible, so that the public becomes aware of the simplicity necessary to open their eyes to what surrounds us and governs us. My wish is to make us feel the power of fragile gestures and the fragility of the powerful, while encouraging everyone to reflect on the way in which our actions, sometimes imperceptible, can transform what surrounds us.
Another ambition of the project is to offer the viewer a unique experience by inviting them to immerse themselves in the very space of the performance. This work offers a moment of contemplation and wonder in the face of almost nothing, while encouraging us to question our daily actions.
Beyond the Depths can be played in any enclosed space, although heritage sites and unconventional spaces remain preferred.
